Supporting the Gardeners Who Give Back

Webb Garden Power is proud to support the Hospice UK Volunteer Gardener of the Year Award, recognising the vital contribution volunteers make to hospice and palliative care gardens across the UK

Webb has donated garden equipment to the winner of this year’s Hospice UK Volunteer Gardener of the Year Award, which was presented at the Hospice UK National Conference held at ACC Liverpool from 25–27 November 2025.

The award, kindly supported by the National Garden Scheme, recognises the outstanding contribution made by an individual to a hospice or palliative care organisation’s gardens.

This year, the Volunteer Gardener of the Year Award has been awarded to Penny Hall. Penny’s compassionate leadership, innovative gardening, and unwavering dedication have transformed St Raphael’s Hospice Garden into a sanctuary of peace and healing for all who spend time there.

While gardens are often places to relax and entertain, hospice gardens are treasured spaces. They provide joy, respite, and connection, and can offer solace and sanctuary to staff, patients, and visitors, particularly during challenging or emotional times.

Hospice UK, the national charity supporting more than 200 hospices across the UK, plays a vital role in ensuring people affected by terminal or life-limiting illnesses receive high-quality care and support. Their work covers not only medical and symptom management but also emotional, social, and bereavement support for patients and their families.

Mark Moseley, Sales & Marketing Director at Webb, said: “Hospice gardens are very special places. They offer calm, comfort, and moments of peace at times when people need them most. At Webb, we believe that well cared for green spaces can make a genuine difference to wellbeing, and we are proud to support the volunteers who dedicate their time, care, and skill to creating these environments. Penny Hall’s work at St Raphael’s Hospice is a powerful example of how gardening can bring dignity, connection, and healing, and we are delighted to recognise her contribution through this award.”
